Sammy Hagar isn't offended by David Lee Roth's comments about his new song.

Last week, Diamond Dave poked fun at Hagar's almost five-minute-long epic "Encore, Thank You, Goodnight" — a song which Hagar claims he wrote with the late Eddie Van Halen in a dream — at his Hampton Beach concert, claiming that Van Halen had similarly visited *him* and revealed that he'd pranked Hagar from the afterlife with the track.

But, instead of taking a walk down mean street, Hagar took Roth's remarks in stride and shared his appreciation for the fellow rocker.

"I can't believe social media is trying to make something out of this," Hagar commented on a metal fanpage on Instagram. "This is the first compliment and reel Olivebranch [sic] moment dave and I have had in 100 years."

The singer-songwriter, who replaced Roth as Van Halen's vocalist in 1985, encouraged fans to "listen closely" to Roth's remarks, because "you will see that this is not negative whatsoever."

And, for the record, he does "believe Dave had the dream" in which he reunited with Van Halen, too. "Dave's a good storyteller, but there's some truth in between the showmanship," Hagar wrote. "All good with me keep it up Dave these songs we both wrote with Eddie need to be carried on forever."

Roth, who is currently on tour, paused his Aug. 13 concert during a performance of Van Halen's 1979 hit "Dance the Night Away" to address Hagar and his Eddie-inspired track.

"Sammy, aloud, he described to the media about six weeks ago that the ghost of Eddie Van Halen visited him and graced him with a song that he memorized and then went home and recorded," he told the crowd in video footage from the event posted on social media. "It's on the Internet."

He went on to allege that Van Halen just so happened to visit him in his hotel room the night prior.

"I was watching the weather report and he came in and he was laughing. His f---ing ghost was laughing," Roth recalled. "I said, 'What did you do now?' He said, 'Dave, Dave… Dave, you know that song I gave Hagar?' I said, 'What now?' He said, 'It's actually [Iron Butterfly's 1968 hit] 'In-a-Gadda-Da-Vida' backwards.'"

Roth repeatedly warned the audience not to tell Hagar about the apparent connection between the two songs. "Don't f---ing tell him," he emphasized. "This all stays in this room, right?"

The radio personality revealed that he and Van Halen laughed and shared a "ghost cigarette" before having a serious moment together.

"I hugged my brother Ed and I said, 'Man, do I f---king miss you,'" Roth recalled. "And he said, 'I miss you too, Dave.' He said, 'But you know what? You should still go to hell.' And I said, 'Save me a seat.'"

Roth and his Van Halen bandmates have always had a bit of a tumultuous relationship. He has left and returned to the band numerous times, to the point where drummer Alex Van Halen claimed that a reunion tour was nixed because Roth refused to pay tribute to Eddie on stage.

Last year, Roth lashed out at Van Halen's son Wolfgang Van Halen on his YouTube channel, claiming that the 34-year-old exhibited bad tour behavior while they were on the road.

Wolfgang later addressed his comments in his own interview, stating, "I seem to have been born into this Van Halen drama that has come way before me. And I guess now that my dad isn't here to be a target, I guess he went to the next best thing. It's… I don't know."
