***This article contains spoilers for the season 17 finale of *It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.**

Four decades after sharing the screen on *Taxi*, Danny DeVito and Carol Kane reunited on *It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia*.

The *Hester Street* actress guest starred on the season 17 finale of the FXX sitcom, which saw Frank (DeVito) star on *The Golden Bachelor*.

In the episode, Kane portrayed Samantha, a poultry heiress competing for Frank's heart on the reality show. Frank initially has no interest in her, as his sights are set on the Hawk Tuah–esque character "Chewy" (Audrey Corsa), but is surprised to find himself increasingly charmed by Samantha's wit.

"You're kiddin' me. This cretin is the Bachelor? I got better lookin' boils," Samantha says upon meeting Frank.

"That was a good one," Frank responds. "She got me with that, that was very, she's good. Let's lump her in with the other one. We'll see how it goes. That was funny. She was pretty funny."

Frank and Samantha later enjoy a dinner together, where Kane's character reveals that her first and only husband died after being torn in half off of the coast of Maine.

"They only found the bottom half. Nasty business," she says.

Frank then inexplicably asks if Samantha kept her late husband's member after his passing.

"Of course I did. I had it pickled, put in a jar," she responds.

Frank has never seemed more impressed. "Wow," he says. "That's what I would've wanted."

Later, Frank introduces the final two competitors to the rest of the *Sunny *gang, and his children Dennis (Glenn Howerton) and Dee (Kaitlin Olson) are shocked to discover that Samantha has no interest in Frank's money because she already has "chicken money."

Frank then proposes a four-way with Samantha, Chewy, and Charlie's mom Bonnie (the late Lynne Marie Stewart), the latter of whom the gang threw into the competition late in the game, but Kane's character declines and confesses her feelings for Frank in a ridiculous speech.

After she departs, Frank slides a note under Samantha's door that simply says "Dunzo." But when it comes time to make his final decision, he ditches Chewy and Bonnie to find Samantha as she's leaving town on a bus.

"I didn't let you go because i didn't like you. I got rid of you because I like you too much, and it scared the s--- outta me," Frank says. "I'm just like you, Samantha. But together, we don't have to be afraid. Would you accept this rose and be my wife?"

Surprisingly, she accepts, and they embrace.

The episode then ends with a montage paying tribute to Stewart, who died in February.

Kane first appeared on *Taxi* during its second season in 1980, playing Simka Gravas, the wife of Latka (Andy Kaufman). She recurred two more times in season 4 before becoming a series regular in the show's fifth and final season.

DeVito, on the other hand, was a series regular on all five seasons, portraying Louie De Palma, the standoffish head dispatcher of the Sunshine Cab Company.

DeVito and Kane both appeared in *Man on the Moon*, Miloš Forman's 1999 biopic about Kaufman that starred Jim Carrey as the off-the-wall comedian. DeVito played agent George Shapiro, while Kane played herself in scenes depicting the *Taxi* set. The duo also both lent their voices to the 2023 animated movie *Migration*.

Kane and the rest of the surviving *Taxi* cast — Tony Danza, Marilu Henner, Judd Hirsch, and Christopher Lloyd — reunited earlier this year to support DeVito as he accepted the Jason Robards Award for Excellence in Theater in New York City.

Season 17 of *It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia* is now streaming on Hulu.
